After only 3 years of existence, Google’s cloud gaming service will be taken offline from January 18, 2023.

In addition to the closure of the service, players who have purchased games through the Stadia platform are wondering what will become of them…

As we told you a few days ago, the end of Stadia is near and several major studios are considering moving user accounts, data and games to another service. Thus, Ubisoft support recently stated that the company is actively working on transfer of titles held via Google cloud gaming to Ubisoft Connect on PC.

Similarly, Bungie said it’s trying to determine “next steps” for Destiny 2 players who rely on Stadia, saying they’ll send information once they have a clear “plan of action.” Finally, IO Interactive has similarly said it is “looking for ways” for Stadia players to “continue their Hitman experience on other platforms.”

It should also be noted that Google has promised to fully refund all purchases made on Stadiawhich is already a good thing… As a reminder, the announcement of the closure of the service surprised many players and industry professionals, since Google had announced the arrival of an update in the coming weeks.
