After critical returns far below expectations for the latest opus, the famous franchise is preparing to migrate under the aegis of Gearbox Entertainment.
Available since last August, Saints Row had not really convinced when it was released, and change seems inevitable.
Saints Row: after the disappointing returns, Deep Silver separates from Volition
A few weeks ago, Embracer Group CEO said he was challenged by the mixed feedback on the reboot of the franchise and indicated that the game had not fully lived up to expectations. However, he was convinced that there would be a sufficient return on investment to consider the future of the license.
Today, the firm spoke again and confirmed that ” financially, Saints Row performed in line with management’s expectations during the quarter “. That being said, Embracer Group still decided that Volition, which operated under the Deep Silver umbrella, is transferred to new management and will operate under the command of Gearbox Entertainment going forward:
Volition will transition to be part of Gearbox which has all the tools, including an experienced US management team, to create Volition’s future success. This is the first internal group transfer where we transfer a large studio between operational groups, but it won’t necessarily be the last.
As a reminder, Saints Row is available from August 23 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Moreover, our complete test is available on our website!
