Ryan Karazija of Low Roar (Death Stranding) is dead

Ryan Karazija, the incredible voice of the band Low Roar, has died aged just 40 following complications from pneumonia. Relatively unknown before, the American-Icelandic formation exploded thanks to Death Stranding. Fan of their music, Hideo Kojima had slipped a multitude of their compositions into his last game, which made them known to the whole world. A real revelation for many people who also changed the destiny of Low Roar.

Singer Ryan Karazija explained that before this collaboration with Kojima-san, the group was ” at the bottom of the hole “. And that’s why they accepted Sony’s offer without even knowing why their songs would be used. During the Low Roar concert in Paris in 2019, after the release of Death Stranding, Ryan Karazija said he was amazed to see an audience of this size compared to his previous performances. Proof that the group knew how to reach the players.

His beautiful music and lyrics, sung in his haunting voice, have touched the lives of so many around the world, and will continue to do so. He was a good person with a beautiful soul and our worlds are shattered by his passing. May we honor his memory through his art and songs to keep him by our side forever. Low Roar’s sixth album was already in the works. It will be finished and will come out when ready. At this incredibly difficult time, please respect his family’s privacy.

Hideo Kojima’s tribute

Like many, Hideo Kojima had a hard time believing the terrible news and paid tribute to Ryan Karazija on Twitter.

I heard about this. I can not believe. I don’t want to believe it. Without Ryan, without you and your music, Death Stranding wouldn’t have happened. Your music will live forever in this world and mine. Thanks. Rest in peace.
