House of the Dragon episode 7: angry fans, HBO responds

Episode 7 of House of the Dragon season 1 called “Lamarck” did not make everyone happy. Indeed, many fans have expressed their dissatisfaction on social networks. Which led HBO to react. WARNING ! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS!!

House of the Dragon: episode 7 (too) dark?

Episode 7 of House of the Dragon was broadcast tonight on HBO in the United States (and in France on OCS). The Targaryen and Velaryon families were reunited for a final farewell to Laena Velaryon, who tragically passed away in the previous episode.

The latter, following an impossible delivery, had asked her dragon Vhagar to burn alive, to prevent her from dying in terrible suffering. A complicated loss for her husband Daemon Targaryen who quickly consoled himself in the arms of his niece Rhaenyra. A moment that many fans have been waiting for. And that was a bit spoiled.

The rapprochement took place after a walk on the beach. That many spectators did not see well due to the very low light of the stage. Following the airing of the episode, many fans expressed their displeasure on social networks. As for the Battle of Winterfell episode (also directed by Miguel Sapochnik) in season 8 of Game Of Thrones, this very low light angered fans. Indeed, unless you watch the episode in complete darkness, it is difficult to observe all the action that takes place there.

A big negative point for a scene which is a real turning point in the series, and that we cannot fully appreciate.

Filming footage from this episode of House of the Dragon showed actors Emma d’Arcy and Matt Smith in broad daylight. It is therefore possible that the teams used the technique of “American night”. To know how to take daytime shots and rework the image to give the impression that they take place at night.
